Willie Doak is not quite the greatest pitcher in the National League, but he is getting up in a class where the atmosphere is rarified. His victory over Brooklyn put Willie’s figures at 12-4, or a percentage of .750. Christy Mathewson, the league leader, is there with 19 victories and 6 defeats, a percentage of .760. James, of Boston, .737, is next best. Sallee, with 13 and 8, is twelfth. Tesreau, the other New York winner, has won 15-7 and is the only other pitcher to win more than half his games in New York, Marquard being at .500 with 10-10. Perritt is just above the .500 count, with .550, 11 and 9 being his score.
