Hot Wells, Tex.        What kind of a ball club would Miller Huggins have were it not for the fact that he has two of the best judges of young talent in the business. Subtract Long, Cruise, Betzel, Beck, Steele, Corhan, Williams, Doak, Smith, Jasper and Lamline from the present roster and you will come mighty close to the answer.

DISCOVER OF BILL DOAK.

Bill Doak was the first player sent up by Eddie Herr. Doak pitched in and won a home with the Cards the moment he landed on the payroll. In 1914 he was rated the National League’s best hurler. An injury to his side somewhat impaired his usefulness last season, but the injury has healed and the fact that it in no way affects his arm or shoulder muscles would indicate that Doak should be as effective this year as he was two years ago.

Other players, now with the team, who were recommended by the two peerless scouts are Infielder Roger Hornsby and Pitcher Hi Jasper signed by Connery, Catcher Tony Brottem and Pitcher Fred Lamline, sent in by by Herr.  Hornsby and Jasper appear to be fixtures, while Brottem and Lamline, though very promising, will both need about a year of seasoning in class A or class A A company to fit them for the big tent.
