What looked to be a fairly easy series for the Robins has suddenly taken on a serious aspect. The Flatbush troupe has already lost one game to the Chicago Bruins, and with no pitching talent available for the other engagements the prospects are exceedingly dubious.
The all-star flinging staff happens at the moment to be rather worn. The series at St. Louis used up six flingers in three days, and to add to the difficulty, neither Ehrhardt nor Doak is able to pitch. Ehrhardt is nursing a sore arm and Doak has not yet fully recovered from the flu which laid him low earlier in the season.
Robbie says, in his column “For the second game of the series this afternoon I am in doubt as to the pitching selection. Doak and Ehrhardt are not in condition to pitch, and none of the others have had more than two days’ rest.
