The Crawfords will make their first appearance at Dormont this evening. Fans are anxious to see the Negro club as they boast of some of the best colored stars on the diamond.
Manager Bill Fuchs will likely send Leo Carroll or Bill Doak to the mound and Streeter, former Gray star will work for the Crawfords. Game Will start promptly at 6:15 PM.
1932 Pittsburgh Crawfords. Formed by Gus Greenlee from a youth team in 1931, the new owner loaded the team with outstanding talent, including Satchel Paige and Josh Gibson, and the Crawfords became a powerhouse for the following five years (1932-1936). Branch Rickey broke the color barrier in MLB fifteen years later with Jackie Robinson.
