Manager’s Pass and Steal Paves Way for Defeat of Jacksonville Team, 3-2.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla, March 7. Manager Huggins paved the way for the Cardinals’ 3-2 victory over the Jacksonville team here today when it looked as if the Florida team was about to pull up a winner.

With the score 2-1 against his side In the eighth, Huggins coaxed a pass and immediately stole second. Then Butler followed with a double which sent Huggins across the plate with the run that tied the game, 2-2.

“Dots” Miller proved himself the real hero by hitting a single which scored Butler with the winning run. Polly Perritt and Willie Doak divided the pitching for the Cardinals, and although hit six times, kept the blows well scattered. Doak allowed 3 hits and 2 runs in 4 innings while striking out 4 and walking none.
